La Petite Mort
Here, I play with the double meaning of 'the little death.' It is a grim tale where a lover stands at the gallows because 'love is a dead sherry.' I wanted to intertwine the intimacy of the bedroom with the finality of execution, suggesting that an insatiable desire—wanting 'more'—can lead to a literal and fatal end.

THE VERSES
Love is dead
Ma chérie
But for your crimes
You must pay
You say
"Not guilty"
It was cold in the winter
It was you in my bed
Now we stand at the gallows
Your fate I have said
I gave you la petite mort
But you wanted more
I gave you la petite mort
But you wanted more
And so it goes
Love is dead
Ma chérie
With your noose and my knife
If you say that you love me
It may cost you your life
It was cold in the winter
But I still remember your face
It was cold in the winter
Now you're gone without a trace
I gave you la petite mort
But you wanted more
I gave you la petite mort
But you wanted more
And so it goes
Did you think that you'd last forever?
Were you ever even in love?
Did you think that you'd last forever?
You wanted more
You wanted more
You wanted more
I gave you la petite mort
But you wanted more
I gave you la petite mort
But you wanted more
And so it goes
So it goes
I gave you la petite mort
But you wanted more
I gave you la petite mort
But you wanted more
And so it goes
